O diretor do necrot\u00e9rio da renomada Faculdade de Medicina de Harvard<\/a> supostamente retirou do local, sem permiss\u00e3o, partes de corpos, que depois vendeu, informaram nesta quarta-feira (14) procuradores dos Estados Unidos.
Cedric Lodge, 55 anos, foi acusado de traficar restos humanos roubados, apontou em comunicado o procurador Gerard Karam. “Alguns crimes desafiam o entendimento.”
“\u00c9 extremamente perverso quando se pensa que as v\u00edtimas se ofereceram voluntariamente para que seus restos mortais fossem usados para educar profissionais da medicina e promover a ci\u00eancia e a cura”, acrescentou Karam.
Lodge, sua mulher, de 63 anos, e outros cinco poss\u00edveis c\u00famplices foram acusados de participar de uma “rede nacional” de compra e venda de restos humanos. Segundo a promotoria, entre 2018 e 2022 Lodge “roubou \u00f3rg\u00e3os e outras partes de corpos doados para pesquisa m\u00e9dica e educa\u00e7\u00e3o antes de suas crema\u00e7\u00f5es”.
Lodge \u00e9 acusado de levar os restos de Havard, em Boston, at\u00e9 sua casa, em Goffstown, New Hampshire, onde, juntamente com sua mulher, os vendeu a dois outros acusados: Katrina Maclean e Joshua Taylor.
\u00c0s vezes, Lodge “permitia que Katrina e Taylor entrassem no necrot\u00e9rio e examinassem os cad\u00e1veres, para escolher qual comprar”, destacou a promotoria. Segundo os procuradores, Maclean e Taylor revendiam os restos em seguida.
A acusa\u00e7\u00e3o afirmou que Katrina enviou pele humana a Taylor para que a “queimasse” para produzir couro, informou o jornal “The Boston Globe”.
Lodge estava a cargo do programa de doa\u00e7\u00f5es anat\u00f4micas do necrot\u00e9rio de Harvard. A universidade informou que ele foi demitido em 6 de maio.
Outra acusada supostamente roubou restos de um necrot\u00e9rio do Arkansas no qual trabalhava, incluindo corpos de dois beb\u00eas natimortos que deveriam ser incinerados e devolvidos \u00e0s suas fam\u00edlias.
Outros dois acusados supostamente compraram e venderam restos entre si, trocando mais de US$ 100 mil d\u00f3lares (cerca de R$ 485 mil) em pagamentos eletr\u00f4nicos.
